Months ago it seemed impossible that we would see a resurgence in large-scale events.
But now planning is well and truly underway to bring state-wide events to the Peel region.
Last month, the City of Mandurah council endorsed the planning of a Wellness Weekend, which would attract more people and revenue to the region.
The Wellness Weekend will deliver a diverse range of health and well-being based programs and activities targeted at the health-conscious market.
The event is set to start in Feburary 2022 and could include programs such as skin care, yoga, sound bathing and digital detoxing.
According to council reports, the Wellness Weekend will diversify Mandurah’s events calendar and in turn recognise the City as an ideal location for events of this kind.
The Wellness Weekend will include a festival hub with a main stage, peripheral stalls, pop ups and free activities as well as breakout areas and workshops located within local businesses and venues.

Mandurah deputy mayor Caroline Knight said the Wellness Weekend would attract people from Perth.
“This is quite an exciting project that we have before us and certainly wellness is a growth industry,” she said.
“The proximity of Mandurah from the City will ensure this is quite a well attended weekend.”
The suggested locations for this event are the Eastern Foreshore, Mandjar Square and Administration Bay.
As the event grows other locations such as the Western Foreshore, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, Mandjar Square and Keith Holmes Reserve will also be considered.
The event will require $80,000 from Mandurah ratepayers, but staff estimate the weekend will generate in excess of $1.2 million over the three years.
