The Peel Wellness Wednesday event celebrates and recognises WA Mental Health Week held this year on Wednesday, October 14 from 10am – 2pm on the Eastern Foreshore, Mandurah. Join us at this free community event when we will get together, (at a safe 2m distance apart!) on the Mandurah foreshore near the playground. There will be lots to see and do, with a bunch of free activities and information from our local mental health services, community groups and recreation clubs. Every stallholder will have a free activity for you to do, plus there’ll be local market stalls and an entertainment line-up of Persian dancing, acoustic guitar/singer and flutist, roaming ‘story’ dogs and a delicious Mandurah Lion’s Club sausage sizzle. Wellness Wednesday is organised every year by a group of 13 local organisations that are passionate about helping people with mental health issues. The event showcases the services available in the region, and also helps people reconnect with the community via volunteering or joining community groups or programs. Wellness Wednesday chair, Sonya Snowsill said: “The impacts of COVID have significantly affected our community and we aim to reach out to all members of our community and invite them to come along to the foreshore event. We know that there are people in our community who have not experienced mental health concerns before, but are now struggling through job loss, relationships breakdown or increased social isolation”. Wellness Wednesday welcomes, celebrates, and encourages cultural diversity and social inclusion from all our more vulnerable communities including people living with a disability, CALD, LGBTQI, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, youth and the homeless. For further information, including accessibility information please check out our website mentalwelbeing.org.au or call event coordinator Nicole Ingram on 0419 208 048.
