Melbourne Marathon 2018: 34,500 entrants and 35,000 spectators


THE greatest ever subject of runners and walkers hit the streets for the Medibank Melbourne Marathon on a sunny Sunday morning.

In its 41st yr the occasion attracted 34,500 entrants throughout the 5 totally different distances — 5000 greater than final yr.

Paralympian Michael Roeger broke the world document within the T46 (arm amputated class) and completed sixth general with a time of two:23.31.

The highest three quickest girls had been all Australians; Sinead Diver taking out the race with a private greatest of two:25.19 forward of Rochelle Rodgers with 2.47.05 and Erchana Murray-Bartlett with 2.54.11.

It was clear skies and a temperature of about 22 levels as the highest runners crossed the end line about 9.15am. The day is because of warmth as much as a high of 27 diploma, the Bureau of Meteorology mentioned.

All roads are attributable to be reopened by 1pm.

By Sunday morning, the occasion had already raised greater than $1 million for entrants’ chosen charities.
